Sync Your Health Apps & Get Rewarded: Health Connect | Setup Guide for CHOYS
๐ฒ Setting Up Health Connect on Android
If youโre using Android to track your health, Health Connect acts as the bridge that syncs your fitness data across different appsโso CHOYS can reward you not just for steps, but for cycling, workouts, yoga, and more.
๐ Starting Android 14, Health Connect is built-in to the system.
For Android 13 and below, you need to install it manually:
๐ Download Health Connect on Play Store
โ How to Set Up Health Connect
- Install Health Connect (Android 13 and below)
- Go to Play Store โ Search Health Connect โ Tap Install
- Install a Fitness Tracking App
- Use a third-party app like Google Fit, Samsung Health, or similar to record your fitness activity.
- Check Health Connect Permissions & Data Sources
- Go to Settings > Apps > Health Connect > App permissions
- Ensure CHOYS and any third-party fitness app (e.g., Google Fit, Samsung Health, etc.) have permission to read and write:
- Steps
- Workouts / Exercise sessions
- Cycling distance
- Active energy
- Grant CHOYS Permission to Read Data
- Open Settings > Apps > Health Connect
- Tap App permissions
- Ensure CHOYS is allowed to read Steps, Exercise, Workouts, Cycling, etc.
โ CHOYS only reads data from Health Connect. You can use any fitness app (Google Fit, Samsung Health, etc.) to track your activitiesโjust ensure it is connected and syncing with Health Connect.
โ๏ธ Managing Health Connect Permissions
You can review or update which apps can access your health data anytime:
Option 1: Via Settings
- Go to Settings > Apps > Health Connect
- Tap Open > Manage App permissions
Option 2: Via Google Fit
- Open Google Fit
- Go to Profile > Settings
- Under Health Connect, tap Manage data and access
โ How to Disconnect Health Connect
If needed, you can disconnect Google Fit from Health Connect:
- Open Google Fit
- Go to Profile > Settings
- Toggle Sync Fit with Health Connect to OFF
To remove stored Fit data from Health Connect:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Health Connect > Storage & cache
- Tap Clear storage
โ ๏ธ This only clears data written by Fitโnot other apps.
๐ CHOYS Activity Rewards โ How It Works
CHOYS rewards you for 3 types of health activities synced through Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iOS):
Steps
- 1 coin per 500 steps
- Max 20 coins
Exercise Minutes
- 1 coin per 10 active minutes
- Max 15 coins
Cycling Distance
- 1 coin per 1 km
- Max 10 coins
Total 45 coins/day max
๐ Activities must be tracked via a fitness app (e.g., Google Fit, Samsung Health) and synced to Health Connect.
๐ iOS Users (Apple Health)
If youโre using an iPhone, CHOYS reads your health data from Apple Health. Please allow access to:
- Steps
- Exercise Minutes
- Active Energy
- Cycling Distance
Youโll be prompted to grant these permissions when you first connect CHOYS to Apple Health.
โ FAQ: Health Data Not Syncing? Try These Fixes
If your steps, workouts, or cycling arenโt showing up in CHOYS:
๐ง Step 1: Clear CHOYS App Cache (Android only)
- Go to Settings > Apps > CHOYS
- Tap Storage & cache
- Tap Clear Cache and Clear Storage
- Reopen CHOYS and log in again
โ ๏ธ This wonโt delete your data, but it resets preferences.
๐ Step 2: Disconnect and Reconnect Health Connect
Disconnect:
- Open Google Fit > Profile > Settings
- Turn Sync Fit with Health Connect OFF
Reconnect:
- Turn it back ON
- Reopen CHOYS and check for updates
๐ Step 3: Check Health Connect Permissions
- Go to Settings > Apps > Health Connect > App permissions
- Ensure CHOYS and Google Fit have access to:
- Steps
- Workouts / Exercise sessions
- Cycling distance
- Active energy
